چکیده

Random Early Detection (RED) [1] is an active queue management strategy that has been deployed extensively in routers. However, its effectiveness has been limited owing to the difficulty in tuning its parameters under different network conditions. In this paper, we define the notion of an operating point that an Active Queue Management (AQM) policy should target. We suggest that the RED parameters should be set or varied with the aim of reaching this operating point. We have performed extensive simulations to understand the effect of maxth and maxp on the network dynamics. Based on these simulations, we give guidelines to adapt the RED parameters.

Mathematical Analysis of Optimal Tracking Interval Management for Power Efficient Target Tracking Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper, we study the problem of power efficient tracking interval management for distributed target tracking wireless sensor networks (WSNs). We first analyze the performance of a distributed target tracking network with one moving object, using a quantitative mathematical analysis. We show that previously proposed algorithms are efficient only for constant average velocity objects howev...

An Improvement over Random Early Detection Algorithm: A Self-Tuning Approach

Random Early Detection (RED) is one of the most commonly used Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms that is recommended by IETF for deployment in the network. Although RED provides low average queuing delay and high throughput at the same time, but effectiveness of RED is highly sensitive to the RED parameters setting. As network condition varies largely, setting RED's parameters with fixed ...

Dynamic Configuration of RED Parameters

Our work focuses on an adaptive approach of RED namely ARED (Adaptive RED) that performs a constant tuning of RED parameters according to the traffic load. ARED requires no hypothesis on the type of traffic, which diminishes its dependency on the scenario parameters such as the bandwidth, the round-trip time and the number of active connections. Our goal is to find a simple extension to ARED in...
